General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

Hi everyone,
I just came to realize that most of my anxiety is related to my appearance. For example, I get very anxious when I'm standing up and talking to someone and we have sustained eye contact. I start thinking about whether they can see I'm nervous and what I look like when I'm engaged in the conversation with them. Also, if I'm sitting down and have my head turned talking to someone next to me I worry about how I look. What I mean by this is say for example I'm ordering food at a restaurant and have to turn and order and maintain eye contact with my head turned. I also hate having my picture taken and get a really bad head tremor when it is taken. Lately I've even had trouble speaking because I think too much about what I'm trying to say before I say it.
Do you guys have any suggestions? Is it all a matter of just being confident in everything and saying screw how I look and what people think about me?

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.

"don't be a hate hole" has been one of my recent mantras which seems to be escaping my mouth more and more often. it emerges when i am faced with the endless list of chores i would rather not deal with. insurance. head lice. bureaucracy. in-laws. the list goes on and on and on and on, ad infinitum.reality checks requested. am i making sense?"ever'thin they is but loving leaves a rust on your...

I've noticed it only really happens to me when I'm slightly more on edge, I guess racing thoughts thanks to anxiety and over thinking which leads me to feel like the conversation was wasted because I was too focused on that to get what was being said.
I worry about my looks too, but when I feel like this, I normally push up my confidence with a playlist on my ipod, inspirational confident type songs and that normally gets me through that along with what you said screw other people and their opinions, the only one that matters about me is my own.
I know I have to maintain eye contact with a person's face as I read lips. When I'm anxious, this is often the first symptom, being "on edge", scanning the entire area and double-teaming my observation.
If you are distracting your self every time you start the "appearance" when you practice in front of the mirror, you will find what works the best to help you get back into "the moment".
Best wishes!
