Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
And yes, I am sure it is just anxiety. I think you are just over thinking here and its causing things to become a bit distorted which is freaking you out. It really is NOT a big deal. Take care and I hope you are feeling better soon!
Try not to worry, if you were having a stroke, there is no way you would be able to sit at a computer and type thoughts that make perfect sense, and there would be symptoms related to other things....not just what you are reading. But if you are that concerned, why not call your doctor and see what they say?
You are really worked up and I strongly urge you to find a place to relax and breathe. Basically just what lovmycoffee said. You have to calm down or you are going to have yourself in a frenzy here pretty quick....if you aren't already! :)
Also, seeing words that aren't there..I have never had it happen from anxiety, but I do a ridiculous amount of reading, and sometimes when I start to get really tired, my mind will mix up words, and I will see "it" instead of "the" and other such things like that, so I have had that happen to me before too.
I am sure it is just your eyes playing tricks on you, and you keep seeing it, cause of the anxiety. :) Keep strong, and try and keep calm :)
You are fueling your anxiety monster with distorted thinking. Practice telling yourself positive things instead of catastrophe thinking.
The sensations you are feeling will pass. Do not focus on them.
I still have this going on with me, and i can barely think....i also cant comprehend what i am reading.....its really scaring me a lot....i dont know what to do... when i am reading i see words that arent even in the sentence or i miss words that are in the sentence....this is so frustrating, as soon as i wake up im like this....is this really just my anxiety or is there really something wrong with my brain? god im really scared :(
I have been exactly where you are. And when I am I cannot read at all.
The page doesn't look right, the words don't look right. I can't follow a story and find myself reading a sentence 2 or 3 times when I know I have already read it but my eyes just aren't tracking correctly. And I have a Master's Degree in Literature so am usually an expert reader. All of this leaves me when I am panicking. But this is not an indication of a stroke or any other brain disorder. It is Anxiety big time.
And it's an awful, awful feeling, I know. It's a frightening feeling. You feel as if YOU, your regular self, are just not in control.
And certainly, you feel Crazy but you're really not crazy at all.
Anxiety can mimic, can make us feel all kinds of illnesses we really do not have. Did you read the poster who went to the Emergency Room, thinking she was having a Heart Attack? That's typical. A lot of people do that. My husband once did that while driving. He was fine. They just gave him a shot of Ativan and then he was perfectly OK.
Do you have any meds that can take the edge off of this for you right now? You should keep some around just for times like these.
I know how frightening all of this feels for you. It feels dreadful and I can completely commiserate but PLEASE believe me and everyone else here, nothing truly bad is going to happen to you. You are feeling WAY out of control and there are few worse feelings. But I promise, I PROMISE, you will be ok. I go through this and am ok again...so does everyone here.
I'm glad you came here to talk it out. Just writing it down can be of help, just telling somebody else who more than understands, who has had the same experience. Exactly. Please write back soon and let us know if you are feeling better. Just breathe in and out, tell yourself "I am having an anxiety attack. Not so great, but i will be fine.
It will be over soon. I'm having an anxiety attack, my friends have had them too. They are fine and I will be fine. I AM in control. Nothing is wrong with me." Because nothing IS wrong with you.
(((((((hugs))))))) Jean
Maybe, since you are so scared of this particular symptom, a trip to the doctor would make you feel better? I think hearing from a doctor that you are okay might reassure you a bit better than we can? Hope your day gets better!
