Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
I went to a new doctor and they tested me for a MTHFR gene mutation. I have it. And that means that I can't absorb the folate and vitamin B12 that I need. Those vitamins are KEY to good mental health (along with a bunch of other stuff).
So, they started me on methalyzed folate and liquid B12. I just started a couple weeks ago but I'm already seeing some improvements.
I don't know if you have an alternative doctor who specializes in vitamin therapy, but you may want to get tested for the gene and get your folate and B12 levels checked. Most people who know about this stuff tell me that if you're in the "average" range, you're too low on these vitamins.
As for loneliness, it is TOUGH when you can't really get out into the world. There are online groups that you can join as well as free classes where they have interactive video via google chat. It can be a good way to connect.
All of us have something as humans. I don't know one person who isn't dealing with diabetes or epilepsy or addiction or some mental health issue. As long as you're willing to work with them, most people - I''m sure - will be willing to work with you on your stuff.
Is there anywhere you can get out and feel comfortable so you can meet people? Any hobbies you enjoy that you can share with like-minded people?
Humans are social creatures and they need to have connection. Studies show that maintaining robust social networks make you live longer. It doesn't mean you have to be an extrovert, but it is good to develop and maintain ties to others.
I love to read about brain research and there is a lot coming out now about the plasticity of the brain. Personality, ability, and even intelligence are not fixed and you literally have the power to change who you are by focusing on different things. Essentially, you are what you focus your attention on.
So, if you focus on these negative beliefs about yourself all the time, that's who you are going to be. On the other hand, if you focus on some positive goals, volunteering, connecting with others via shared interests, you will become that person. Obviously, it has to come naturally, so you have to spend some time thinking about your true self, the self that is down there underneath your disorder and traumas.
I know it's hard. I am trying to peel back years and years of conditioning, myself. I have a very deep-seated belief that I am no good, that people don't value me and, for that reason, there must be something wrong with me. I know logically that this is not a realistic belief and that it is my anxiety and depression warping my belief of myself. But some days, it is just too hard to fight it and I sink back in to thinking that way about myself. Change is hard work but I have hope.
