Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. I know that people have varying symptoms when they have panic attacks. I was diagnosed with Panic Disorder about 5 1/2 years ago.
My panic attacks vary. For me, it will start with just a feeling of ' uneasiness'. Then my heart will start beating fast. If it's a FULL BLOWN panic attack, pretty quickly things will escalate to where I get lightheaded and numbness in my hands/feet and a feeling of being completely out of control and feeling very frightened. It's more a fear for me that I may pass out ( thought I was going to many times). Sometimes the panic attack may last around 10-15 minutes. At other times, I can honestly say they have lasted for an hour or more. When that happens, I feel completely drained ( sometimes feel sick the next day ). I always feel very uneasy after having a panic attack for hours. I do have xanax to take, so now I can usually prevent an actual panic attack if I feel one coming on if I don't wait too long to take the xanax.
I think for me the MAIN symptom physically is the rapid heartbeat .
Mentally, the main symptom is feeling very uneasy and out of control.
Wishing you all the best . Big hugs!
