General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. Hello, I've only been on here a couple times, but have been dealing with anxiety for about a year now. I thought I was getting a handle on it by seeing a therapist regularly, breathing exercises, progressive muscle relaxation techniques and xanax when needed. Up until last week It had been working but then I hit a low, starting with flushing sensations then worrying thoughts about my previous heart attack I had when I was 34. I'm 39 now and in good physical shape I still race bicycles but for some reason I can't shake this anxiety stuff. My Dr. has since told me to give lexapro a try for a month. Today was the first day and I had a headache all day. Any advice out there about lexapro?

Hi there. I am on Xanax right now but thinking of going back on Lexapro. I took Lexipro for a year and it really helped me, the only problem was that after a while I didn't care about anything and that is not good either. However I am going through some really intense stuff in my life right now and need some real help. I had a headache with lexipro for about a week until I got used to it. Hope that helps. All the best to you. Kate

I am on Lexapro right now and it is helping me. I did not have any side afffects except one I felt irritable/angry for a week. But I gave it a chance and I am happy I did. Don't beat yourself up or worry that you had anxiety. We can not have everday be perfect. Accept that some days are going to be blah. Everybody has them. Just accept and let it be.

Thanks for the comments, It really helps, I know part of my problem is that I wonder if other people are feeling similar symptoms or reactions. When I here similar stories it makes it normal for me.

Each person will have different side effects to different drugs. If the headaches dont clear up get an RX for a different med, like Zoloft or Prozac.

I took Lexapro and did great on it for a while, but it must have pooped out, because it doesn't seem to help much anymore :( They want me to switch to Celexa, but it's so hard for me to switch meds because I hate the raised anxiety! I hope it works for you! You will have side effects with any anti anxiety or depression med for a while! Hang in there!!
