I have anticardiolipin antibody syndrome which has caused pulmonary embolisms. I have been on warfarin for a little more than 2 years. My pt/inr is usually stable at about 2.3. And plaquenil for about 4 months. A few weeks ago I had a d & c and was taken off of the warfarin for 3 days. I went back to my usual dosage of 12 mg/day.
I have been drinking more wine lately and, because I have been experiencing severe back pain, I've also take ibuprofen at least once a day. So, it's not surprising that my INR has been high for about 2 weeks. Not dangerously, but high enough at 4.
I have felt pretty good on both drugs overall. I haven't had the sluggish, icky feeling I've had in the past when my INR is high. But I have been getting these red splotches on my legs. They range in size from a pin/dot to slightly raised skin the size my pinky nail. Some of them look a little like dry skin, some look like bug bites but they don't itch or hurt or feel any different thank the rest of my skin.
Could it be vasculitis? Or something else related to high INR? A reaction to alcohol with warfarin and/or plaquenil?

My doctor doesn't check my INR, I haven't seen a single test result for that, and don't even know how often it should be checked. I do have the icky symptoms you talk about! When I first began Plaquenil about a month ago, I got hit with the worst ever episode.. Everything hurt, I was so tired I slept whole days at a time, and I couldn't think straight, couldn't read my college textbooks or put paragraphs together to submit essays.
I wouldn't worry about the red spots unless they grow in size.
