Is it related to Lupus? I saw a doctor in Boston for Lupus eval. As I remember I did have this type of antibody and guess what I had a horrible time getting pregnant, bled through my whole pregnancy and have lots of joint pain.

I have had multiple blood tests for autoimmune disorders. All blood work for autoimmune comes back normal. The only abnormal blood results have been the presence of the antidcardiolipin antibodies, IgM only. I was able to conceive and give birth once. My pregnancy was uneventful, but it took us almost 4 years of trying before I conceived. I also have an adopted daughter. I feel like all of my symptoms must be related somehow (absent periods, cystic acne, easy bruising, raynauds, and all the rest of the vascular issues. When I was going through infertility treatments they said I may have PCOS. Other than that, they did not know why I was unable to ovulate and thus get pregnant. It is frustrating to always hit a wall when searching for answers.

I also have gone though premature ovarian failure at 40, and have not had a known blood clot. 6 miscarriages but we did have 3 babies despite all the losses.

I am 42 now and do not have periods unless I am on birth control pills. I stopped taking Yasmin for 1 year without a period, took it again for 1 year to stop the acne (it didn't work this time though), then stopped Yasmin 10 months ago and still no period. My estradiol level is very low, 20-25. My testosterone and progesterone are also low. I saw an endocrinologist who did a brain MRI (to rule out a pituitary/hypothalamic tumor), lots of blood work, 24 hour urine collection test to rule out carcinoid tumor and excess cortisol, ultrasound on ovaries ect., and still I have no answers as to why I do not have periods, horrible acne, and such low estrogen. They told me it was hypothalamic amenorrhea with unknown cause. I gave up seeing the endocrinologist and saw a dermatologist who has me on Isotretinoin (accutane) for the acne. The acne is my main concern right now. I was successfully able to conceive naturally 1 time though back in 2005! I did not have periods at the time of conception! I just want to know what is wrong with me. I feel like if I find the source, it will be "fixable".

I was dx with lab work ordered by rheumatologist 5 years ago. No blood clots with exception of one service blood clot 15 years ago. It eventually turned into a varicose vein. Last year I had gene testing and the test showed I was prone this disease.

On my last lab report it showed my blood was sticky and clumpy. I am unable to take baby aspirin for an extended period due to ischemic bowel disease. I did
the regime for 6 months and bleed from my bowel for three straight days non stop.

I do have raynaurds and rheumatoid arthritis. Osteoarthritis in cervical spine.

No answers. I use heat for arthritis . Worry about blood clotting issue and the possibility of lupus. I do exhibit some of the symptoms..

In my research I found miscarriages were connected to this dx. I had early menopause in my mid forties. Fortunate to have two healthy pregnancies.

To be clear I have antiphospholipid syndrome..

I tried taking baby aspirin for 8 months (under my hematologists direction) and ended up with rather large areas of purpura (dark red patches of bleeding under the skin) on my legs and many nosebleeds! The doctor took me off of the aspirin and basically said he did not know what else to do for me and released me from his care! I asked the doctor if he had any other patients like me (antiphospholipid antibody positive, but w/o a history of thrombotic events) and he said NO. Since stopping the aspirin the purpura have mostly gone away. I do still get some small patches of purpura on my torso or legs from time to time. They are much smaller and less red than before though (while on aspirin).
