Anger Management Support Group
Anger management commonly refers to therapeutic techniques by which someone with excessive or uncontrollable anger can control or reduce their emotions. Typical examples include the use of deep breathing and meditation as a means to relaxation. Psychologists recommend a balanced approach, which both controls the emotion and allows it to express itself in a healthy way.
Yes what he said...concentrate, look back and analyze everything, letting nothing pass your scope of focus. Then pose questions to yourself...why would this bother me?....thing of that nature...(K)
Or you could try what the other too try to get me to do; which is not give a shit......it only works sometimes...and sometimes not even that...but it makes them happy...oh, and screw doctors and shrinks, I can't stand those pompous pricks...(V)
Sometimes, walking it off or excersing helps. Something safe and physical, to release it.
I have bipolar. most of the things you described are symptoms I have during a manic high. rationality is normally what breaks it. when i freak myself out from going to far. writing helps, though its hard to start... write everything that you can, then stop for a moment, and read what you wrote. if youre like me, its not really you, you regret it, and the aggression fades. lifting weights help but can be dangerous. the result of feeling sore and weak stops the rage, but you could go to far and hurt yourself. cutting has been suggested, but is often also taken to far and is dangerous. i also like the idea of looking at photos of yourself. this normally makes me rational, or depressed, which stops the anger.
ive been to 4 counselors/therapist, and over 30 sessions.
they dont work.
I started a log page
Mth Date am/pm Event Notes
I don't usually write down the event for a day or so allowing myself a chance to come back to reality so to speak.
I am sorry to be so long winded. But I am hoping by this experiment that it allows me to find a pattern or something...
Anyway, my wish for you is to find some rest from this anger and a bit of peace for your heart.
Peace and Tranquility,
Gayle
