I've had this condition for 35 years now. I've had three biopsies over the years and finally this year I was diagnosed with Lichen Amyloidosis. I have been treated with steroidal creams which don't really help. I have used every moisturizing lotion on the market. I find that 100% organic Shea butter actually make my bumps smaller and my legs look much better. Not sure if I can name companies on the website but it is 100% Shea Gold Virgin-pressed Shea butter(from Africa). My Doctor is also doing further tests; immunoelectrophoresis MDA turbid Metryl test? Not sure where she is going with this but maybe it will give her a hint on how to treat this. Try the Shea butter though, it really helps.

My Wife Has Lichen Amyloidosis, the best cream she has used for the skin rashes on her Arms and Legs is, Stiefel Physiogel cream 75ml.

I also have lichen amyloidosis. I started itching and getting bumps after I started my first period as a teenager. I always had sensitive skin and would cut very easy. My mother also has LA so I knew what was coming very early. My mother had been to several dermatologist and none could diagnosis her. I went to a dermatologist about a year ago and had a biopsy done which confirmed LA.
Vitamin E oil is the only thing I have found to help with the itch. I have been reading a lot of research stating that a plant based diet helps with a lot of different diseases so that is what I plan to try this year.

I've had LA for the last 6 years. To control the itch and the spread of LA, my dermatologist has injected the skin where the LA is found every 6 weeks. She has also given me Gabapentin 300mg capsules to take. I can take the Gabapentin up to 900mg, 3X a day. I'm only up to 600 mg 3X a day now. This has helped the itch tremendously as LA is also effecting the nerves in the skin. She is also starting a Light Treatment twice a week (I'll post the results later).
For Topical, I use Clobetesol Cream 2x day (morning and at night) and I also use Sarna Lotion (over the counter by the Caladryl at the pharmacy). The menthol in the Sarna Lotion appears to help a lot.

Hope this helps. The steroid injections underneath the skin helps a ton.

I tried the Sarna Lotion. I suppose it's more soothing than other lotions that are over the counter. I don't use it all the time due to the strong smell (it's also expensive, and it really only helps a little). I guess I really need to seek some professional treatments.

Any of those who have talked about giving further updates on treatments you are taking, It would be nice to see how you are doing. Divenut, has there been any progress?

For anyone that is still suffering from LA...try Retin-A or Tretinoin cream....it works for me, and the results are almost immediate. Within 2 months, all of my nodules are 80% gone. I still use prescription Dermasmooth and Clobetesol cream twice a day to help with the itch and use the "Ocean Potion Burn relief Ice" in the sunscreen isle that has Lidocaine in it to "numb" out the itch when it gets really bad.
