Amputees Support Group
Amputation is the removal of a body extremity by trauma or surgery. Many have undergone amputation or have been living with a missing limb since birth. In either case, life as an amputee can be challenging. This is the place to find others going through the same experiences as an amputee. Share your thoughts, troubles, and solutions with the community.
I am no expert, but when you only have about 2 inches of bone left on your calf, it is hard to do things like run. The ideal length is 6+ inches, which will get the socket low enough on your knee to permit more freedom of leg swing. With shorter BK stumps the socket rides too high on your knee, restricting movement. The best person to check with is your prosthetist, who knows your situation and can help design something that may work for you. Kevin
For me maybe someday I will learn how to run again but for now I am happy to get around and be able do fun stuff take longer to get there but thats ok with me. Life goes by too fast anyways. As for the restricting of movement thats whats not stopping me, its the lack of a ankle and a foot just feels wrong.
Being so short I am not as stable on the leg as I would like to be when I run I have tried in the past but no luck. I will keep tring because as time goes by I am able to more so some day.

I think if you are walking fine, it can't hurt to give it a try and see how it goes.
