I've been looking into getting one, myself. Your desire to go lakeside triggered this reply; I live out in a really sandy part of the Arizona desert. Tire width becomes real important when you're going off pavement or off sidewalks into grass, dirt, or sand. Another consideration is range and speed of the scooter. Most give you the easy travel range, pavement or sidewalk. Figure you'll be lucky to get half the distance specified if you "go off-road". My 3rd concern probably doesn't apply, but consider charge time versus run time. Having a scoot you have to charge 8 hours is OK if you charge during sleep time, and use it sparingly around the house. You sound like you'd be more active, so probably aim for something that charges in 4 hours or less and has a good miles per charge number. My 4th concern has been turn radius; I live in an older single-wide mobile home. They are a bit more difficult to maneuver in when they're older! Hope this gives you some ideas what fits your circumstances....

i have one and i think it is great it gives you a sense of freedom it gets me places that i could not get to before.they make a 3&4 wheeler i choose the 4 wheeler for more balance also if im not feeling that great and i dont feel like walking to get the mail or just sit in the driveway or go up the block i just get on my scootor and go i am very happy with it i use it on grass and on the sidewalk and it runs for 13miles without a charge.i love it
