Amputees Support Group
Amputation is the removal of a body extremity by trauma or surgery. Many have undergone amputation or have been living with a missing limb since birth. In either case, life as an amputee can be challenging. This is the place to find others going through the same experiences as an amputee. Share your thoughts, troubles, and solutions with the community.
I would think real hard about making such a drastic move. It cannot be undone. I am a left leg AKA, with a reasonalbly functional right leg. It is not real healthy and I truely fear the day I lose it. Until then, I will do everything I can to hang on to it. My opinion would be to keep what you have as long as you can.
Here if you need me.

But, my wonderful doctor flatly refuses to "remove a viable leg". As a result, there are a whole heap of things I can not do . Yes, I *KNOW* removing the other leg will cause a new set of problems, but at least I'll be able to do things for myself and be rid of this darned depression because I end up having to ask somebody else to go get little things or do stuff I *KNOW* I *COULD* do if this darned leg was gone. My caretaker is undoubtedly getting tired of hearing "I want this &%# *&!^@& %@#*^@ leg *GONE*!!!!!" Every time this stabbing pain comes from the hip area.
I've even thought of suing the hospital for *NOT* doing as I feel *I* need done. But, things being the way they are in a little town, finding an attorney that would, is difficult.
