I am just wondering how long is your amputed leg my is only 2" long from my knee cap to end of the bone and other 2" of skin and left over muscle so only about 4" long total. I guess this mae it hard to make the socket fit right because of being so short bummer.

I would like to know if anybody else is shorter or about the same size that is having a hard time getting the socket to fit right. Or how long or short you are it would be interesting to know.

Hi Denis: i have aboout 3 1/2 in of bone and about the same amout of skin.
I had my amputation a year ago last July. And i have a new leg girl. and iam due for seconf temp. socket, and she has built 5 all all to big. the last one i didnt think i would make it home it hurt so bad. so when i got home i called them and had them ship me my old socket with 16 socks. so i dont know if the lenth means any thing or is the person that is build ing the socket.
I bought one of those frog skin kits so far havent had enough nerve to try it yet. so Dennis good luck!! Old Joe

I had a BKA in june '07 and got a bone infection and had a de-bridgement in dec'07 that left me with a very short stump about 2 ins as u are. my prothestic guys are awesome and when they 1st saw it said WOW but have made me a socket that takes all the weight off it .Iam walking with crutches still but hopefully will be walking on my own in a bout a month .hang in there it only gets better ....

connie this froh kit is something new as far as i know. u gat a cd with the kit . it is sort of a putty type material that u can use for putting on the inside of a socket to make it smaller so u dont have to wear so many socks. it is an amutee that inveted it and on the video looks like it works very good. and i think it only cost $ 20 for the compete kits..mite be worth a try.. hope this helps:: old Joe . prob. if u google it get a better idea.. nite

Joe - I was fortunate in that mine was elective. Damage was to my ankle and foot. Mine is about 8 inches long. Makes fitting pretty easy. Doc was very good at saving most muscle and tendon to wrap around the gone and make it well padded. I know a short fit is a challenge but they do it. Maybe your prosthetist needs t check with some other professionals on good techniques. I do feel a good sleeve that holds the leg on tight is essential. Are you using some kind of sleeve to secure the leg to your body?

Well I am going to my prosthetist on thursday to get some ajustment doen so I hope it will help. Thanks all for your input.
