Drugs for pain

Ok what are we all taking for pain management and how long have you been taking it?

I have been on Ultram ER, Topamax, Oxycod/Apap, Nortriptylin, Clonazepam, Lyrica, gabapentin and Vicodin. Most of these I tried for a few months with no help, and some of them I tried twice and still nothing.

Only thing that is working for me right now is the Vicodin I take two pills a day but I will run out soon. I do have a Doc appt On 11/25/09 in hope thats I can get another strip for Vicodin but I am sure that they wont because they wouldnt want me to be additvie to them, but if it helps with my pain then why not. All I want is to live life with little pain as possible is that so much to asked for.

Your amputation was nearly two years ago. The pain shouldn't be that intense any more. The prosthetist - have you considered another one? If he/she hasn't made your prosthetic right, it could be the source of your pain. Just a thought.

We found a bone spur today, soit wasn't the prosthetic fit. We have tried everything with the fit over the two year to help this out, but it took was a X-Ray. Thank you for your thought it was a good one.

Hi Dennis, I was also a trucker for many years and lost my in 2007, and am also in severe pain most of time, so we have alot in common. I wish that I could help you, but like yourself, I have taken just about every kind of pain medication they have including morphine and methadone which I am taking now, and like you, none of it helps... The VA at Mather AFB and the UC Davis Med Center in Sacramento have been treating me for the past year with no results, they just keep giving me more pills..I'm getting ready to quit all these pills and start sipping wiskey all day... One person in the group has suggested going from doctor to doctor until you find one that really cares, and another suggestion is to get a revision surgery known as the ERTL procedure which sounds good.. I wrote Dr. Ertl in Indiana, but have not received an answer. I can't afford those two suggestions anyway,but if you want, I can send you all the info I have on ERTL procedure... Good luck to you and if find some kind of pain releif please let me know and will do the same for you...... VERN65.... Thank you Vern and yes we do have alot in common I do keep looking for relief from pain and some day I hope to find it I am sure it wont come from a bottle or a pill but from a operation that kills all of the nevers ending so they stop sending a single to the brain.

I did found out that I did have the ERTL procedure done with the original ampution I was not awear of this until I got X-ray done and saw the bone bridge in place.

Doctor shopping is not always good to do expressly if you are looking for pain releif, that could come back and bite you. Just look what happen to Rush Limbaugh and Oxy pain pills.

Have you tried going to a pain specalist, my regualr Dr. could not help me and after I started seeing him he helped out tremendously I am practically pain free. Maybe you could give one a shot.
