well i guess im pretty sick myself. cause i woulda kept mine. but i didn't get the option.

Not sure of why maybe when I die they can add my ashes to the rest of my ashes that way I can be hole again. Or kust maybe I was high of good drugs and throught it would be cool to have the leg cremated and have the ashes not really sure but I had the opportunity to do it so I did just to have it.

good answer maybe if I had your drugs i wudda done the same ...but I was told they might use mine for research as I had a bone infection ..hope fully it will help some on else

I find this kind of interesting...one of the emotional things I had to deal with when I lost my leg...was...what happens to my leg?
I all so had a lot of weird thoughts about when I do die...I get to heaven...and the stores angles..says to me..hey...you signed for two legs....how come your only turning one back in....I know..it nuts..to think like that...but I had thoughts of wanting to be burred whole....means nothing to me now...20 plus yrs latter...but I think...going back...and given the chance...I might just have done the same thing...So good for you!...If it gives you an comfort...then...good...

I would not have kept my leg for cremation given the change.
I did have thoughts along the same line as Frosty when I first had it amputated....I kept having dreams about a nurse caring it out of the operating room on a tray....crazy.
My personal belief is that I do not need to be whole when I am cremated. This is the shell I was given to live in. My soul will get to Heaven if there is a leg or not.

At the time of my surgery, I guess I never really thought about where my leg went, until several years later. Like Cixpax, I was told they would probably use it for research, since I had synovial cell sarcoma and the tumor had started to grow down into the bone of my lower leg. Now that I think of it, shouldn't I be reimbursed for MY leg that they TOOK for RESEARCH????? The hospital certainlly has no problem billing me for one tiny aspirin and they got 1/2 of my leg!! :)

Thanks for all of your input and yes it does gives me some comfort to see the ashes everyday and know that I still have my leg. It may not be part of my body any more but it still here with me and not at some landfill. Even that would not be to bad consider that I was a trash truck driver before I lost my leg due to the truck parking on my foot. :)

After my leg washed up on the beach a lady found it while she was out walking her dog.The local medical examiner,who just happens to be one of my best friends came to the hospital and asked me what i wanted him to do with it.I decided i would donate it to my alma maters medical school to be used in there anatomy dept.It seemed like someone should benefit from it and i can go see it at any time if that is my desire.
