Amputees Support Group
Amputation is the removal of a body extremity by trauma or surgery. Many have undergone amputation or have been living with a missing limb since birth. In either case, life as an amputee can be challenging. This is the place to find others going through the same experiences as an amputee. Share your thoughts, troubles, and solutions with the community.

Hi All,
Just want to say that my first week here, and it has been really great with lots of nice people with heaps of positive attitude and advice.
However, I feel I can't contribute much in the way of advice as the majority of members seem to be accquired amputees through either accident or illness. As a consequence, I feel a little detatched as I am unable to discuss problems with prostheses as I personally don't use them.
I wondered if any of you feel that although we have the issue of missing a limb/s, that in fact we are separated by the actual underlying reasons for that loss.
Thanks for your patience whilst I waffled on lol

I don't think we are the seperated by the reasons for our loss. There may be some differences that arise from how we lost them but all in all I don't think there is that much of a difference. We can all still give some kind of support or advice. You could still give support or encouragment.

I feel a connection with anyone who was born w/out or has lost a limb, finger, toes etc. I like to hear other people's stories and I draw strength from their courage and the way they have managed to go on with their lives. With or without a prosthesis. I think it helps me to support others in any situation. It helps me to learn about myself.

Thanks for the response, Of course you are right to say I could give support and encouragement. It is something I have and always will do for anyone I meet. Suffice as to say if anyone feels I maybe able to help them at all, I'd be more than happy to offer any advice/experience.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
