Amputees Support Group
Amputation is the removal of a body extremity by trauma or surgery. Many have undergone amputation or have been living with a missing limb since birth. In either case, life as an amputee can be challenging. This is the place to find others going through the same experiences as an amputee. Share your thoughts, troubles, and solutions with the community.
I have yet to learn how not to get annoyed sometimes when people stare or are rude to people with amputations or any disabilities.I am getting better though.
I need to learn not to be afraid of being embarressed if I get into a place where I need help to get out of a chair or I fall and need the paramedics and other sticky situations. I worry too much about what people I don't know and won't ever know; what THEY think!
I need to learn to be a better person because you can always be a nicer, better person and try to help somebody else that I haven't noticed before.
WHAT I HAVE YET TO LEARN IS HOW TO PUT ON MY FLIPPIN JEANS W/O IT BEING SUCH A PAIN IN THE BUTT. LOL! IF ANYONE HAS ANY TRICKS TO THIS LET ME KNOW, I'M SERIOUS. ITS GETTING COLD HERE & THIS COULD BE A PROBLEM. : )
I still have to learn to accept help and not be suspicious when someone shows interest in me. I've always been careful about people and my amputation has just amplified my trust levels.
I have learned about patience. I have learned that a smile will make others accept me, not fear or feel sorry for me.
I have yet to learn how to walk on a prosthesis. I have yet to learn to calm down over things I have no control over. I have much still to learn!
