I sure do understand....I am wiped out to the max with so many different duties as well as my dad. Praying for good sleep as the next three days are jammed.

...hope you can get both some rest and some refreshment...i am feeling wiped out almost constantly...it's not good, a signal to rest or better yet, go to a spa!

how is your mom?

I really understand as well. I had my mother over the weekend at my house from Friday to Monday. I usually don't post on this board because it depresses me to talk about or think about my mother with Alzheimers and her decline. She is getting increasingly worse. I have a home health aide with me in the afternoon to help with Mama because I know she is a handful for me. (I have done that already. Even with the home health aide there doing complete care for my mom after I brought her from the day program all day, I was still exhausted when I took her home Monday evening. It is a lot of work and very draining.

My mom seems to be recovering from her heart attack, thank goodness, because we have made plans for travel together in a few years and I would be pretty mad at here if she flaked out on me now! LOL

Good Morning,
I feel your pain, 2 am and Ken will not sleep, I finally gave up and started the coffee, maybe I will get a few things on today list done.

The last few days Ken will not stop pacing and pulling on his cloths. He does this so much and with so much strength he sweats. It is like he ran a mile. He will not sit down for any length of time.
We have upped his meds, they are not slowing him down.
When I finally get him to bed he is exhausted. It is as if his body drained of any energy and Im sure he is as many miles he paces in a day.

Yesterday morning he fell it took me 10 minutes to get him up. It was on the carpet so he didnt get hurt. I broke my back getting him up.

His daughter flew yesterday to stay with him while I go to Wyoming to close the cabin. It has been 3 weeks since her last visit. She was stunned at the changes in him.

I had planned a couple of extra days to fish and relax but, I think I will just change it to sleeping the entire trip.

Hoping all you get some rest today.

Rocky, my husband also is very restless with no purpose, just won't sit down, gets up, gets down and the drugs aren't slowing him down anymore. He also tugs at his clothes not to the same degree, just pulls at them. yesterday He literally out his glasses on the BACK of his had and didn't seem to notice the difference.

Hy Rocky my mom is also doing the things that Ken is doing. I could not care for her anymore she is now in the hospital. They tried different meds and she is now in Respiradole. It seems to be working. Do they have him on medication for reslessness?
If so what? Does he scream and bangs and get violent?
I am just trying to figure out what will be next for her. Is this part of Alzheimer no one seems to tell me?

Christine, how did you get aids for your mom at home?
They told me that after her being in the nursing home for 2 mo they will give me 8 hrs a day in Md. What did you have to do to get aids and how did she qualify for the care. You have to be homeless almost to get any help!

I am tired of Ken, as well. Can we run away together!

Can we all run away .....maybe an Alzheimers caregivers cruise!!!???? Dream on.......

i think the alzheimer's run -away cruise has a promising future...I can see lots of willing participants!

it is so important to take all the moments, hours, whatever we can cobble together to rest and try to refresh....
