Can anyone explain to me what happens to their vision? I feel like my husband can 'see' but not absorb. Does anyone understand what I mean?

For example, I tried to show him something on TV and he couldn't 'see' it. I even turned his head and pointed to the TV. I could tell his eyes were just not focusing but he said, "uh huh".

Then I showed him a picture of our daughter and he said, "nice" but I could tell that his eyes were not focusing on the picture and that he was looking somewhere else. I asked him what the picture was and he said, "It's that thing."

I think it is just more of the disconnect. Ron did this the last year or so. I just could not get him to focus on anything. On
his beloved car rides he would just look straight ahead - not really looking at anything. Even landmarks that he ALWAYS pointed out
went by without a glance.

My husband's vision as well as his speech was affected by his acquired brain injury. His prescription remained the same but the WHOLE AXIS of his vision changed. The Optometrist told me that with a head injury the vision should be checked first as it is usually affected.

So, because my husband can't really speak(brian injury)I don't know what vision changes might be d/y the Alz. However, I notice that he moves his chair to an odd off to the side position at the table, and I think this might to d/t visual changes with the ALz..
Also that he hesitates on just two of the steps. I usually have the back of his pants....

My hus will also not look out of the windows on car rides even though he hates to stay in the house...

Yes, my husband just looks straight ahead while driving now too, he used to point things out and talk about them.

I believe it is the whole disconnect thing also, they don't really get what they look at so its like looking at nothing (if they are past the moderate stage)

Its been the same with my Rob for the last 6 months or so , same time he stopped reading.

Ken is doing the same. Just stares ahead and when he does make a comment about something he has seen, he doesn't make sense. He usually say he has been there before when I know for a fact he hasn't.
