Keep a positive thought. I too, had to go to have repeat films done because they "saw something". I have very dense fibrocystic breasts and it turns out that they don't think it is anything but I have to repeat the mammo in 6 mo. to check it. I had a long thin hard spot back in the 80's and had it removed. he called it a fibro adenoma...nothing to worry about. Lots of breast cancer in my family also.
both my sisters had to go for further screening this year also. So, try not to worry and we will pray for the best....hugs to you.

Deb, if you dont know for sure dont suspect the worst just yet. Your description sounds like a "fibroid" more than something else to me, but I wouldnt know for sure. I had a scare a couple of years ago too... and it turned out to be a shadow that wouldnt show up right with the mammo. I had to have it repeated twice before confirming it wasnt anything to worry about. I hope it is something like that for you as well.

I was told I have many fibroid tumors so I dont know if I would even detect a lump myself. And my sister is a cancer survivor so my risk is high as well. Sending you major hugs and healing thoughts and vibes.. Keep us posted on the outcome.

Believe me ,I know the fear of waiting to see what's going on.

2 small masses were found by mamaogram in both my breasts...the Dr's told me to wait 3 months ,and then they'd do another mamaogram.
Longest 3 months of my life!!!

Well it was a positive LCIS..very first primary stages of breast cancer. (a fast growing type of breast cancer,once it gets going)

LCIS is a RED FLAG for breast cancer..they know it's coming,but they can't tell you when.

6 months 1year,5 years,20 years?
My options were to have a mamao every 3 months for the rest of my life ...and the worry that cancer could show up at anytime.

My other option was to have a prophalactic (sp?) Dbl mastectomy.
All breast tissue was surgically removed.

So I had basically 2 healthy breasts removed,because someday,I WAS going to have breast cancer.
I have the breast cancer gene,and several family memebers have had breast cancer.

With my surgery ,I have a virtual 0 chance of ever getting breast cancer.
It was a hard decision,but I'm glad I made it.

Hang in there...believe me ,breast cancer is not the worst thing that can happen in your life...

Deb...I of course am with the other ladies sending strong love and prayers your way. Every thing the ladies say sounds perfactly logical(especially those that have been through what you are going through). I do know I have several friends that were given the scare and by the grace of God they all were fine as i pray you are. (((HUGS)))Sherri (Sherbear2)

PS....if your Dr really thought it was bad I think she would have called....not send a letter!! Keep positive thoughts! :)

I had breast cancer 3 yrs ago. I get a mammogram every 6 months. My husband and I were both diagnosed with cancer within 2 months. His was prostrate. He had 9 weeks of radiation. He wasn't diagnosed with AD until about a year later, but I think he was recovering from the radiation, and signs were difficult to see. The radiation took a lot out of him. He is getting more confused lately, and depressed. This has beeb getting me upset, and causing many more migraines. Stress can trigger them.
PS. Our cat was also diagnosed with cancer within that period. We could not believe it. All three in the home diagnosed at the same time. Our poor cat didn't make it. We had her for 13. Yrs.

Been there, done that, so I know how scary not knowing is. And indeed, the not knowing is the hardest part. I'm a breast cancer survivor and can honestly say I'd pick that over Alzheimer's if I had to choose one. But chances are, this will be nothing more than a scare. My heart goes out to you. My daughter was very ill the whole time I was going through treatment and the thing I worried most about was her care, as I was her primary caregiver. So I know the worries you have. But hang in there. Take it a day at a time and you will survive, whatever you find out. Remember, not knowing is the scariest part. Once you know what you are dealing with (or NOT), and have a plan in place, it's much easier a foe than Alzheimer's.

Sounds like a fibroid to me too. I have that problem. Pretty much always get called back in for a second look. It's scary, I know..... but as Jane said, if they were really worried, you'd be in the hospital by now. Lovely..... just what you need to hear right before the holidays. I'll betch'a you're fine.

I would be scared too, as anything medical scares me...and yet know that it really really could be something else.

Been there, done that too. Mine turned out to be fibroid as well. It sure is scary until you find out for sure, however.

OK! I am fine! Phew! The doctor said they don't see anything to worry about BUT definitely want me on the yearly track for a mammo.
