Anyone familiar with the Silver Alert? Its like the Amber Alert - only for seniors.
We were not aware of this program in the state I live and neither were our local police. When dad went missing, nothing was done... 12 hours later, he got killed in a car accident.

Here in Florida when a elderly person is lost there are alerts just like Amber Alerts they even show up on the highway electronic alert system. In my retirement community an Alzheimer's woman wandered from home and within a short time there was a massive search involving the Sheriff's organization of horse, atvs and fliers. She was found hiding in her neighbor's bushes but it took 24 hours to find her. After that there was more training in how to search for people with dementia.
It's not just the storage of all the information needed but how the local police react to it.
I am truly sorry for your loss. Hopefully you can help your local community to change how they deal with this and help others that may find themselves in similar situations.
