How about those siderials that you use for children . I know I got them for when the young grandkids would come over and they go half way down the bed . They have extensions on them that slide right under the mattress.

Contact the VA... see if they would help with a hospital type bed.

If the VA can't help, look online. There are siderails sold on a lot of websites. Also there are triangular foam pillows that help. For my dad who was climbing over the rails we removed the bed frame and had the bed on the floor. He could roll all over but didn't fall and hurt himself because he was already on the floor. Only problem was he had trouble getting up off the floor which for us made life easier - kept him a little more contained until someone could deal with helping him up. Good luck. Linda, I had thought of that but the getting up part might be tough for him, however, I like the idea of him being a little contained for a few moments. LOL

I'm sure the VA could provide you with rails if not a hospital bed.
My hubby got a bed and he still prefers to sleep in his lift chair. It reclines way back. It hurts his back to sleep on the bed even though I raise the head.
I have one of those rails for my granddaughter when she comes. they work great.

My name is Charlene my father has alzheimer's hospice got him a hospitial bed with side rails.My mother forgoy to put them up the other night and he fell out bed and hurt himself. ant way hospice brought a bed alarm.

Wow, there so many things available for ALZ patients, amazing. So far the side rails I put up have been working.

My mother has been using bed rails for years now. She fell out and broke her nose and then cracked her head on the bedside table. She WILL NOT let us take the two tables away. The edges are so pointed they're like weapons. Now she uses the rails to pull herself up. She NEEDS them.
I have to get a bed pad today. She's wet twice in the past 5 days and thankfully hasn't gone to the mattress.
Bed alarm is a great idea! The people down the street from us use one since their mother wanders in the middle of night.

Hmmmm. I put the bed rail on the bed because, Sadie kept falling out of bed. Would you believe she pulled it out somehow and got up and fell over the bedrail. Now I shut her door and have a baby monitor so that I can hear when she gets up. The one night she was yelling, Sheila, Sheila, Sheila. I ran in and said, "What's wron'" She goes, someone is yelling Sheila. LOL. You have to try to find some humor in this.

LOL, yes, sometimes they say and do some pretty funny stuff
