As most of you know my husband's children do not contact him. Today my son, who has been raised by my husband since he was 5, took Rollie out while he ran errands. He does this because Rollie likes to go for car rides and then I get a break. My son always puts Rollie's VN Veterans cap on him. He is very proud of him. Another Vn approached and started to talk with them. My son explained Rollie's condition to him and said, "I am just his step-son." The veteran said, "if you helping care for this man then you are HIS real son." he was very touched and proud.

That is very touching, Deb. I'm sure Rollie considers your children his real children.

That was so touching and true! God bless your son and God Bless you for the way you reared him. I have two son-in-laws like that, they treat my Rob just like he was "their" Dad! To us they are SONS!

We all do have things to be greatful for, we have to remind ourselves of that sometimes!

My daughter, Robyn, is by another marriage. When Ken was diagnosed, the children got together to decide what would be best for Ken and me. Robyn spoke up and said, "Hands off, Dad is mine. If anything should happen to mom, I want him." That is the reason we now live just a few minutes away from Robyn. She is wonderful to Ken and always has been. It is strange, but he is more comfortable with her than he is his own children, even though, his own children are great children as well. I have to admit that I am very blessed with good children.
