I think every single one of us here with a spouse with alzheimers knows deeply what you mean when you say "good days for us"...none of us are having the good days we'd planned and dreamed for at this stage of our lives.
All of us and our spouses, have been robbed of the futures we spent so much of our lives working toward and there is grief and anger mixed in that realization for most of us I'm sure. I know I have a lot of grief as I watch my hubby lose more of himself and I have a great deal of anger that all our plans and the things we anticipatd so eagerly will never come to pass.
Despite his low qol, he still retains that humour for which he was famous. A nurse tried to get a cup off him, and he put it behind his back. She reached behind to get it, and he put it round the front! It was a game of "cat and mouse" which I thought was rather clever for someone with advanced AZD!! Even though he doesnt know who I am, I think deep down he DOES. Recently a carer pointed to me on a photo and asked who the lady was, testing him, like. Gordon smiled, tears in his eyes, said, "That's my wife"! Following a fall and fit at his Residential Home he is now in hospital with a brain bleed and awaits a Nursing Home. I am sure we can find something suitable. I want the best for him.
best for our loved ones... sometimes we just don't know what that
might be.
It is nice your husband can still converse with you.
Let us know how he gets along and how you are doing, too.
