The aloneness and the loneliness of our lives without those who were so close to us and so central in our living is an extremely hard thing in life. I don't think any one who hasn't experienced it can know how it feels.....
And it a very particular loneliness....I have a son I love with all my heart, I have friends, and people I really care about and I know they care about me....They are here, in my town, they call me from half way across the world, some called Christmas Day to talk and 'spend time' with me. But it is just ...well...different than the closeness we have with those few special people in our lives.
My Mom died in 1976. When my Dad called from FL to tell me she had lost her battle with cancer, it truly felt to me for just a split second, that the world had stopped. Then it started up again but it was never really quite the same....
Before that, when I was 16, 20, 22 and 24 my grandparents died,,kidney cancer ,brain cancer, Parkinson's, and a massive heart attack.
In 2007 my cousin who i lived next door to and grew up with, died . He was 6 mos older than me and like my brother, as we were both only children... In 2009 My Dad died from falls in a Nursing Home that Hospice told me I had to put him in...he sustained a fractured right hip and a fatal subdural hematoma. I was with him when he died.
And in October Ron died.
I really do know how sad you feel and how lonely and how very very different life has become, and how it will never be the same.....
I am sending a prayer of comfort and a hope that you will find your way to the light.....we have our lives to live, and our loved ones would want for us to do that, but it does feel empty and we hae a long path to follow out to the light....
hugs....
New Years will be another tough one to get through. I'm starting to feel a bit better physically though and very hopeful that I can see my husband tomorrow. He sometimes smiles when I get there making me think I'm at least someone he enjoys seeing. If I leave it much longer even that bit of recognition may be gone. It's so very sad.
This morning I started to do some shredding and generally trying to create some order in the chaos in my house. I hate to go into the New Year with all this mess.
May I take this opportunity to wish you all as a peaceful a New Year as possible with new ventures and good health.
Inge
Please read my reply to Deb's post "one more day" as I think it applies here as well and don't want to just repeat myself.
Hang in there my friend...One day at a time!
Hugs Sherri
As for your husband, that has to be so hard. You are grieving for him as well. I hope you have a lot of support from your family and friends.
Know that we here on DS understand your loneliness.
We love you,
Sharon
I'm told my husband is doing OK but I can hardly wait to see him, hopefully tomorrow. I hope he is not feeling abandoned by me.
I lost my mother 1 mo. after I turned 16. and I still miss her. I would have loved to have had more time with her.
Now that my hubby is gone, I still have family and friends, but it is so different. All these people still have a life and a purpose. When you find yourself alone, you have to make your own purpose and I know that it is very difficult.
Heres to us....
HUGS, Carolyn
