I am sure that Sharon will add her perspective so this is mine:
I felt like I was able to really bond with someone who really understood my every problem, dilemma, sadness etc like none of my regular friends can and to do it face to face in person in a comfortable, non-time restrained situation was more healing than I could have imagined. Having this site is of course a gift but sharing in person was so much more special. I believe that Sharon and I will be bosom buddies until we are very old ladies! So many times we almost didn't have to finish our sentence, we just knew.
It was a challenge for us to make this trip, it took a lot of planning and coordination with our families but we did it. As far as expense, well, we did it VERY CHEAP and believe me I don't have expendable income! And it was worth it. I cannot tell you how rejuvenated I feel and I am ready to continue the journey refreshed.
I know that it will still be challenging and I know that I will have down times but this has strengthened me. I never believed I could really do something like, leave Rollie and go away for a few days but I did. I was sure the guilt would be too much but it wasn't. I was sure that Rollie would be really upset but he wasn't. He was fine. My kids said he was not any different than when I am at home. We decided that I would not talk to him over the phone while I was gone, just in case it upset him. That turned out to be a good decision.
I think that we all should do something like this, take those days off, however you can do it. Even if you just go across town. I didn't think I could but I did. Have faith and believe that you can do it too.
Hugs to everyone.
Hope there'll be a lot more opportunities to repeat the experience... take care .. Aggie
