As a wife and caregiver to your husband you have the RIGHT to limit contact with people who cause him stress, including family members, you have the RIGHT to prohibit alcohol consumption around your loved one, you have the RIGHT to be present with any visitors, you have the RIGHT to prohibit visits.
I honestly thought I would not need this information, I was naive and stupid and just couldn't believe people would actually be mean to me. But his family has said for the second time said that they 'are coming to get him' and I am not welcome to go with him and be in their home. They want him alone. According to the people at Alzheimer's Association I need to get an attorney and they recommended the Senior Legal Hot line. The women there said that I have to do what I think is best for my husband and I should call Adult Protective Service if they 'just show up' and expect to take him away with them. She also said that if they show up drunk I should absolutely call 911, not just because my husband shouldn't get in a vehicle with but for the safety of the entire community. I have never, ever, harmed my husband in anyway, I have just loved him and cared for him. I feel like they are trying to make me the bad guy. When I ask him if he wants to go to their house by himself, he says, "No way." But if they ask him if he wants to come to their house he says yes but he doesn't understand that will not let me come. That he will be alone. He can't stand to be away from me for a minute, if I leave a room he gets up and comes after me. How will he be if he is away from me for a few days? How can they take care of him if they are drunk? I am not exaggerating about how much they drink.
Everyone who really knows me and sees me and Rollie together says that I am doing a good job. His doctor even calls us 'his love birds'. Yet this is really affecting me, I cry about it, I lose sleep over it. I just can't believe that people would be so hateful at this time in a person's life. I just want my husband to have loving, caring around him. Having them around and fighting isn't right. I guess I am asking them to give up alcohol while they are around him and they aren't able to.

Is it possible they think there might be financial gain to have him in their possession ?
I, would, however contact your attorney .. possibly you could get a no contact order and keep these jerks at bay.
You don't need this stress - gather only those around you who love and support you.

They are stupid and will never understand how much you do for your husband. You do it because you love him.
If they really had a clue and had any understanding of the Alz and what a demand it was on you. They wouldn't think about taking him from you.
Stay tough and do not let them get to you.
