I took this from Sher from another thread because it is just how I am feeling right now.

"Mind you I am normally a very strong person the one everyone comes to for help, but I am beginning to lose that strength and can't seem to stop it. I feel it...close to throwing in the towel....but I know I won't."

I am feeling tired, and worn out and everything takes a lot of effort. I used to be the person that everyone went to for strength and I just don't have it in me. I believe it will come back but at the moment my reserve is gone. I don't like feeling so lethargic and helpless.

I have noticed that my family and friends around me are really trying to pick up my slack and I am grateful for that but it also makes me realize how far I have come that the people who used to depend on me are taking care of me. But I guess that is how it should be.

I have so been there as well. Sounds to me Deb like you could use a day out either alone or with a good friend. I have one friend in particular that I call when I am at my wits end. We used to go for a massage and then out to dinner. Before Tom got so bad I used to go spend the night at her condo in Atlantic City. The view from her condo (oceanfront view) is so relaxing and beautiful, I immediately would relax and spent a lot of time just venting. We are like each others shrinks. Do you have anyone that could spend a day with Rollie to give you a much needed break? I am always pretty good at giving advice that I don't always take myself.

I think I am at my "wits end " as well, but like the rest of you have no idea what to do about it. I am serious when I say that if you get a diagnosis for Alzheimer;s there should be a shot to end it, because the prognosis is so awful and takes the life of everyone around it. I feel so guilty feeling this way, but today I can't help it.

So many of us seem to be at the same point in this journey. It is a point that Judy said she reached about a year ago. She has carried on , amazing woman that she is , and hopefully we shall all do the same.

It's a tough one, and i like a challenge but may have met my match on this one.

Deb,Sharon,and JeanMarie (and whoever else feels as we do right now) we shall hold each other up and we shall do it somehow together with Gods help.

That is How I am feeling! I think part of it is this awful dark wintry weather. Part of it is I havent had any time away from DH except an hour or two here and there for almost a year.

I am just at the beginning of this, and wondering how I will ever make it. I always prayed that I would have a smart child because I could not imagine dealing with someone who did not understand. I was blessed with a child who qualifies as a gifted child. Now the good Lord has seen fit to take away the reasoning and cognitive abilities of my husband who used to be such a wonderful part of my life. I know that between Him and my new found friends on this site, I will be able to make it through this. One day at a time is the only way I am going to be able to handle this.

Olyveoule, You are so right when you said that you are blessed to have fpund this site. I do not know where I would be today without my dear friends here. It has been 2 years for me now since I found DS. No one understands this disease unless they have lived and experienced it themselves. There are going to be many days when you will not believe you could feel what you do, but we will.
