That is interesting. My husbands look has changed as well. I think it is in the eyes. He used to have beautiful, shiny, blue eyes that sparkled. Now, they have kind of a yellowish color to them. He holds his mouth kind of in a dumb way as well. I will bet that all of us will recognize Alzheirmer's in others before we are done.

It is in their eyes. There is no spark... a blank look.. like something is missing.
Ron, also, started keeping his mouth gapping open.

The eyes...I don't even like looking at my mom's face because there is some look of loss to her eyes, like a lost child and a feeling like she's already gone. Tired and lost. It makes me too sad so I look at all her wrinkles and lines and still see my mom. I look at her hands and see my grandmother in them. I can deal then.

DEFINITELY the eyes. I think we talked about this once before..........the eyes are EMPTY..a blank stre with nothing behind them. My Rob used to have "Dreamy bedroom blues" and i would melt when I looked into them. Now sadly they have no soul behind them just a blank stare. We all know the look...the walk..the whole damn thing. Robs them of themselves!!!!!!!and robs us of them

Several years ago Ron and I were having breakfast at a fast food place. He sat across from me. There was just something missing in his 'look'.. a dead,blank look in his eyes. I said " Ron, are you still in there ?" His reply was " I don't know".

I'll never forget that conversation.

I know what you mean Judy, some of the things he has said will stay with me forever.

My mom and I went to lunch with my husband. When we go out I order his food for him, etc. I asked my mom, "Do you think the servers think it's weird that I order for my husband, like I'm bossy or something?"

She said, "No, at this point you just have to look at him to know something is wrong with him, you can just see it in his eyes."

Deb; I felt the exact same way when I "took over" and ordered for him in restaurants too. Thought they must think I am an overpowering Bi-ch! And befoe I did get looks from the servers which said just that. I don't get that look anymore they just smile and go on..... It is obvious to all now. I now know immediately when I see someone. The real scary thing is my Dad had that look just before he died of Cancer,his body was still here ut so racked with pain that his spirit had left before his heart stopped. A empty,dark,cold,sad stare. Now my hubby has that same empty look but he is still here. How sad for us and them!
