I think I am actually looking forward to him not talking anymore, right now he talks all the time! That wouldn't be so bad if he at least said something! He seldom completes a sentence or thought, he uses the wrong words, lots of words are garbled and most of what he says makes no sense. He just babbles on and on and expects me to answer. I have no idea what he is talking about most of the time. I try to answer and usually he is content with my simple yes, no, maybe answer but it's iike Judy says, it's like a wood pecker pecking at my brain. AAHHH!

I was thinking the same this morning. I had to walk out of the house. He argues with everything I say, and he makes no sense. No sense at all. I am going to take him to the Senior Citizens Center today. He seems to make sense to all of the older men there and because he is so much younger that they are, they all believe him. Strange!

I sure hope Neal by passes this phase. He has never been much of a talker so I've gotten so used to the quiet (well human voiceless quiet) I think it would make me more then a little nuts if he did nothing but talk all day, I know being around people who do talk non stop drives me crazy but I can leave them and go home when I've reached saturation point.

Communication Break Down. Some people who ramble sound like they are talking alot, but actually string common phrases together.

Non verbal communication depends on a a whole different set of skills and may be bettter able to understand him by considering what it FEELS like he is saying rather than what you think he is saying , either through actions or words.

Susan, that's a good idea, some times I kind of do that, like if he is talking in a more agitated tone I try to really stop and figure it out. If he is just rambling on in a monotone then I just nod my head, slip a couple of huh huh or yes or no's.

I kind of felt like Ron knew he was losing his words and was on a
mission to say the ones he still had A LOT. I got so I could more or less tune it out.. then would come the pause where I was supposed to respond. Since I hadn't paid attention to a word he had said..
I would just say... "hmmm.. I'm not sure.. what do you think ?" then he would go on until the next pause.

My mom is at the ramblinmg stage..she starts with one story..(that I've heard a million times)..then travels off onto another subjrct..asks a question and expects an answer...I feel so frustrated

My mom repeated What time is it?
50 times a minute.
One day she was telling me a story about someone came to the house . that man she would say. Turns out it was a epsiode of golden girls she thought that was her life.

The not talking isn't fun either its funny how we always want the opposite of what we have.
