Well, I guess having a husband with ALZ isn't enough for me......yesterday we were told that my son has PDD-NOS, which is Pervasive Development Disorder, a type of Autism. He is 21 and I have always thought he was a bit odd but EVERYONE blew me off. I mean since he was an infant I thought he was different but pediatricians, doctors, teachers, counselors all said, "no he's fine". When he still could not spell in 6th grade the panel of teachers and counselors at his school said, "Well, spelling isn't a big deal because now a days everyone has computers with spell check." In high school I asked his teachers and counselors and principal, "Don't you think it's weird that he has failed the same math class 4 TIMES?" No, they said, math is just harder for some. He wasn't a slacker at school, he attended every day unless he was really ill, he TRIED to do his homework. We hired tutors, we drove him to school early so that he could get extra help and yet after 4 attempts he still didn't get it and they didn't think anything was wrong. I mean there were so many signs but no one would listen, so now we have to address a lifetime of problems. and I don't have a partner to share this burden with.
