I can understand your feelings...I feel that way with Ron in the hospital, but....when we are deciding things, we MUST consider both them and us, as we are trying to be a working unit. IF you are so depleted you stop functioning or can only function minimally, you CAN"T care for him.
Rollie may adjust to the respite stay...and anyway his short term memory is not going to hold onto it for long anyway.....
Please do something for yourself that in the end will be for you AND him....he would want that.....

I know it feels like its going away from the grain of your existence by doing this, but you really need the time for you. Rollie would understand and want you to do it, if he understood what was truly happening to him and you both. I know telling you not to feel guilty wont help you any....we do that no matter what. But remember the lifesaving techniques they have on airplanes.
Place the oxygen on yourself first then your loved ones. Time for your Oxygen sweetie and try to do something that will refresh you. Even if it is to just stay in bed a whole day.

Take some bubble baths, get a new hairdoo or a mani-pedi. anything that will make you feel more normal. Go shopping and buy something new. try not to worry (yeah, right!) when I figure out how to do it, I'll let you know. lol. He will be fine and so will you.
