I'm so glad what ever it is .. way less stressful fo
both of you.
This is something to celebrate.
Two of Jim's brothers live in our neighborhood and neither of them stop by to chat with him. One of them has been by a few times, but not lately. They drive by, looking straight ahead, as if they can't see us, we can't see them. lol
But that's OK. We are doing just fine without them. Most of his family acts like he's crazy and it's contagious. lol
You all have a good day and hang in there.
His sister said one time, "We won't feel badly at you if you put him in a nursing home." I said, "I think that is entirely my decision and I don't need permission from his family, but he isn't ready to be put in a nursing home, but I will be the one to make the final decision.:"
Putting him in diapers has gone really well. He is acceptable to most of the things i do for him but still fusses when I have to take his clothes off and change him.
For him that is actually a good thing, his psychiatrist says his depression and PTSD were caused by living conditions when he was growing up and I know two of his sisters and his brother scared, abused and intimidted him so not having them in our lives is easier all the way around.
As long as he is not talking about them and why they don't call let sleeping dogs lie and find things you can do to distract him and keep him happy without them. Sadly it will be soon enough that he no longer knows who they were or why he wanted them to call. Hugs
Just as an example- there was NO ONE at the station when he came home from VN. He walked 2 miles home by himself after he had just come back from war.
Deb, your last entry about his coming home from the war explains enough about them. You are both better off without them.
It's been almost a year since Ken's youngest daughter has had any communication with her Dad ,or even called me to see how he's doing. She drives by here and lives close.
His family doesn't call to often, They all get get together once a year and I know they love him and they will tell me how good a person I am for taking care of him but, if they would have only called and chatted with him, just to hear their voices but, now he doesn't think he has any brothers or sister .
I did talk with one of his sisters a few weeks ago and explained how he was doing. She said I needed to do what I had to do, just put him in NH if that's what you gotta do.I'm glad Ken doesn't know how they feel. I don't think that they don't care it's just they have their own lives., and think a call once in a while does the job.
On a nice note, I ran across a friend on FB that we hadn't seen in at least 15 years, said they had heard about Ken and was very sorry. They want to come see him just to say hello. He said I know he won't know us but we just want to visit with him.I thought that was nice.
Some people just get it.
Hope all of you are had a good week.
It worries me when I don't see you ladies on here every few days.
Ken , continues to struggle with eating actually I would say it is much worse. We are having to hand feed him more often, he has lots some wight appetite is just not there.
He is sleeping through the night but has been very nervous like during the day. I haven't given him any meds for this but just let him walk around until he gets tired .
Today he had an accident while outside (thought the fresh air would do some good) he told me some guy did it. Back to the shower and change of cloths.
Am trying to catch up on all of the post tonight..
Neal is the only one of his siblings to ever go to college and he even got a degree, for a guy who graduated high school with a 3rd grade reading level I was totaly impressed with him.
The day we got his degree from the college his older brother was out for a visit and we tried to show his degree to his family, his mom glanced at it and said"that's nice" then shoved it aside, no one else even bothered to look or comment. He was so crushed, all the rest were interested in was what his wonderful brother was up to, this is the same wonderful brother who would take him out and leave him in the woods when his mom said he had to watch his younger brother and then threaten to beat him up if he told anyone he'd been left.
To say I'm glad these people are not in our live is the understatement of life.
