I use a stocking style wig cap. The mesh wig caps made my scalp itchy. I also keep my scalp moisturized. Full lace wigs are best and feel the most natural. The lace lets your scalp breathe. I hope this helps a little.

I also use a stocking cap, I have no hair at all and my scalp is extremely sensitive. I find that using a good moisturiser helps as if my scalp is dry it is itchy, I also use head and shoulders to relieve these symptoms :) I find the better my scalp is feeling the more comfortable my wig.

I buy my wigs cheap as I am forever changing my hair style, so my advice would be to invest in a good cap....however at the support meetings I go to, some ladies find it more comfy without a cap, personal choice I believe.

How are you getting on? I have a similar problem. I was wondering if anyone knows of a London based clinic that would allow you to pre-buy untreated hair for them to then make a wig out of? I just haven't seen pre-made pieces that are of great quality so would feel happier doing it myself.

It took me a long time to get used to wearing wigs, but it was something I just had to do. I simply get my from, are you allowed to say business names, well here goes Paula Young catalog, they are relatively inexpensive, they go on sale from time to time and I have a favorite style with a lace lining that I love and I get the same style and color each time. They also sell the little caps I believe, but I have been wearing them for over 40 years now and do not wear anything but the wig. My best thing about getting them from a catalog, I do not have to go into a store to get them and unlike in the beginning explain to some nosey store clerk why I will not try it on. I just order and wait for it to come in the mail. There is another catalog company out there but I have never used that one, I also do not use the fancy wig shampoos, I use woolite to clean my wig, cheaper and it does the job. I have one of the wire wig forms and that is what I hang my wigs on at night and after shampoo to air dry.

Glad you have found the perfect solution for you!! I just think I'd feel happier physically seeing the hair before purchasing, but I know thats a long process so understand why you use the catalogue!

Just to follow up, I also found a great wig :) Took time but it was worth it!

I have gotten several wigs and the best I have gotten are from Paula Young. They are inexpensive and pretty.

I don't know a whole lot about Alopecia. I have a mental illness and I used to cut off all my hair... The reason I cut my hair was because I was unhappy with my hair line and the texture of the hair itself. Anyway that was when I discovered the magic of full lace wigs. Full lace wigs are wigs made with a lace base and each strand is hand tied to the lace making the wig look super realistic. They are very comfortable and super light weight. You can also glue them to your scalp. You can have them custom made or buy them already made on sites like Ebay or Alibaba . I actually learned how to make them myself. I think you must Virgin Indian hair weave , They not been colored with hair dyes/color and overall quality is also good.

I have a really comfy wig.... It,s called a cap weave. go to http://goldenmartbeautysupply.com they have lots of brands, lengths, and styles, but put in a search on the website for "cap weaves". Good luck, I hope you find them as comfy as I do.
