My husband has ptsd, bipolar II, OCD, and dissociative disorder. He is recently going through med changes. I hate living with med changes, but don't like the things these disorders do to him either. I know its a matter of time to see how new meds work, but trying to hang on to the positive things is becoming more of a challenge every day. The last few days I have noticed his memory is still decreasing, he chatters a lot (much of a young child) about very mindless items and repeats the same stories over and over again. He is smoking almost twice as much and toward the end of the day his words are slurred (much like that of a drunk). I am finding I am liking my time with him less and less but am not ruthless as I know and understand none of it is intentional. These diagnosis' came about a few years after we were married, it wasn't like I knew what I was getting into cuz I didn't. I am trying my hardest to roll with the changes and keep talking to God as well as stepping back to listen to God tell me what to do, where to go, etc. I am really looking forward to taking a weekend off to get in some "me" time--unfortunately not an easy task. Often times lonliness creeps in on me and that is a difficult feeling for me to grasp. I started therapy a week ago to assist with transition as eventually hubby will need in home care or outside placement to help keep up with his meds, etc. I have been through a lot of adventures in my life, but nothing as painful as watching my hubby "die" from the inside out...remembering to breathe and trying to hang on to the positive events that occur...whew....this is exhausting!
Thanks for listening/reading.....have a good night.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

Heartbreaking ... is the word that comes to mind when I read your story. I am so sorry you are experiencing such a lonely heartbreaking time. Losing ones husband is unlike losing anyone in their lives, especially in the tormented form of losing him slowly to such a disease.
Prayer is a sustainable source of comfort ... it is one I too confide in. My prayers, my thoughts my well wishes go out to you Pugzybear.
You staying by his side requires such a degree of strength I could only begin to fathom. I applaud you for your loyalty, your persistence, your giving spirit. You'd be surprised how many people would see a situation like yours and leave... how many people wouldn't hesitate to say this is too much of a burden. But you are a wonderfully amazing person who will not accept defeat and said, he needs me so I endure for him.
There will be a time like you mentioned that he will need constant professional care... until that day comes stay strong and know your hard work and unwillingness to throw in the towel will not be in vain.
Keeping you in my prayers and thanking you for being such a wonderful person and wife.
God Bless and may God bless your husband as well
Of course...how the hell do you respond to that??!!! Um, yes, I hear ya, I am listening!!! trying to plan some me time or a trip or something...being by the ocean would be nice! :)
Thank you for your support! I am grateful for this! Create a great day, for only you can!
Have you looked into home health care for him? It will give you a break. Here in Maine, it's through the dept of elders of independance. They send a nurse to the home to assess the needs of the person and then send it out to home health care agencies to be picked up by one who has a PSS (Personal support specialist) available for the hours he needs to be attended to. They may be called something different depending on where you live. Sometimes it's a CNA. All depends how bad he is and how much he can do for himself.
Good luck and God Bless!
I have checked on some services available in our area (we live in the middle of "nowhere" so most things seem so far out! LOL...30-45 miles from most services...I keep searching tho...I appreciate the support here!
Good luck!
