Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I had the worst headache today and have been in a bad mood. Craving a drink since 2 pm. Didn't get chance to get anything and my boyfriend has been with me. Around 6:30 it dawned on me I'm 2 days sober and am going through withdrawal as I began sweating.
I want to make it another day but this is hell!! How long does this last?
seaQ
Great job on Day 2 Boomer! I made it thru Day 3 but I'm sure I'll lose track of the days after a week or so. Is it really important to count days do you think?

Stick together, Boomer and NJ! Just keep telling yourselves that it is a disease. All you have to do to beat this disease is to not take that first drink! Keep thinking how great you feel in the morning!!!

Hang in there! You are in the brunt of it. It sucks! I usually feel physically decent on day 1o. I am on day 11 again. Don't give up!
seaQ
How are you feeling NJgirl? Any better? I'm in the brunt of it too, We won't give up
NJgirl
I'm on Day 2 and am craving bad. My saving grace is I have $2 to my name right now. How are you Boomer? SEAQ?
seaQ
I'm feeling cruddy, but I'll make it thru another day. I know I'll come out the other side of this & feel good. I'm not obsessively thinking about alcohol ... I'm obsessively thinking about feeling better! Which means no alcohol
NJgirl
You are in a good place SEAQ, wish I was there. Was today your day 4? I survived day 2. My sister has beer in the house and I avoided. Day 3 so far I haven't been able to beat, but determined tomorrow! We got this!!!!
Sly
Awesome guys, just never give up! It took me 2 years to get my current 138 days! Keep picking yourselves up and go at it again. It gets easier! Sly

It is also important to mention, that at one time I had 8 years of sobriety! I became chronically ill, and life kicked my butt! I'm feeling a little better again without the alcohol, that gives me initiative to keep going! I know another long binge would probably kill me! Sly
NJgirl
Sly, you are an inspiration- it CAN be done. I'm going to kick day 3's butt!

I just know I'm gonna lose track of the days soon, my memory isn't that good! I know I can get thru Day 5 this fine TGIF because I'm sick of feeling sick & I long for healthy & sober. I'll go add my Quitting date to my journal so I'll remember it.

Everyone here can relate. That is why I love these guys, even if some have been sober for decades they are not judgemental and very supportive. Good Luck - I am also brand new to the journey (this time round)... and I have had to white knuckle it a couple of times. I am trying to avoid my triggers (which for me is anything if I really want to justify and make excuses)... Good Luck, it is not easy, but you can do it.

Defiantly relate to feeling ashamed that alcohol had such a grip on me. If you want to keep track of days there are sobriety apps. I have one on my phone called nomo you can check in every day even let's you see how much money you are saving.... Helps me. I am right therewith sly 184 today. It does get easier with time.
seaQ
Thanks for that great idea Mermaid, I'm going to download that nomo app.

Hang in there! I think withdrawl time varies with everybody. My time takes a very long time mentally too. Just hang in there. You can do it. You will be feeling better in no time!!!!!
