Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Or course he acts like it isn't that bad, he wants to keep drinking and he wants you to leave him alone about it, so he manipulates you.
It IS that bad. Have you talked to a family counselor or someone from AA? Please talk to a real person, not just on the internet.
Of course he has a good side, but right now he's a drunk, and if he can't manage his own life, he certainly can't manage somebody elses. Do not look to him for direction or approval. He's not your dad and he's not your boss.
You are right, you cannot help him, so use your energy to make a safe, peaceful life for you and your children. When he's ready to change, he'll find the help he needs.
Good for you for setting up an appointment and thinking about your options. You have more power than you understand.
Why are you having to go to the shelter - you and the children are the victims (as is he - a victim of alcohol, and I agree only he can learn to free himself of that grasp). Aren't the laws in his favor - can't you get him out, and keep him out with a restraining order? This is how it would work in my part of the world.
Just had to ask - I only want the best for you all. Peace.. lr
If I were you, I would arrange for an intervention immediately. Someone other than you needs to confront him with what he is doing.
Your husband either needs to shape up or leave. That can be difficult for a woman with 3 kids to think about - but please start to put a plan together - start finding resources for yourself and good luck.
