this is the part that makes me resentful....I'm working on it and gotta get where I feel glad that I'm not having a drink. See my convo with my husband on my journal...yeah. well.
But happily, sobriety does.
Chris, Common sense? I didn't have a clue until I gave it up and got educated on the disease.
Thankfully, the day came for me when the alcohol stopped working.
When I was out with my family, I was miserable, waiting with my foot tapping to get back to my bar (home) so I could seek out relief. Thought about it all through the day. Reminded me of Pavlov's dogs when the bell rang!
'After they have succombed to the desire again, as so many do, and the phenomenon of craving develops, they pass through the well-known stages of a spree, emerging remorseful, with a firm resolution not to drink again. 'This is repeated over and over, and unless this person can experience an entire psychic cahnge there is little hope of recovery'.
Luckily for me I found AA and keep reading this with my sponsor.
