I am so sorry to hear about your situation. I'd like to add to the comments from above friends that you may want to try to seek for unemployment pay from your company. I'm not sure of the reason you were let go however, it is worth to try and even though it is a complex process it will be worth it as you may have a steady income for a while. Also, I would definitely speak to the imaging facility that you went to get the CT taken because before you take CT or MRI, they need to get a prior authorization from the insurance company which means, the insurance company is obligated to pay for whatever their share. Good luck with your tests and fight with all your might. Your illness, your former employer, and really give it to the insurance co. I would refuse to pay for that test .



And what really does this posting make me think of? The stupid Americans that say they ARE happy with their health insurance. Well here you go. This is what we had. Thank God we have a smart and caring president that made sure and fought and fought to start getting this changed! AMEN to Obama and what he is trying to do for us! Someone has some sense and is fearless!

I don't want to get into anything political ... but, this has all happened after the health care bill was passed and its not really going to take effect until 2014.

Where I was born, Ireland, everyone complains about their taxes and the wait for health care -- but the Irish live longer and have lower infant mortality because everyone can see a doctor whenever they want (even with a wait) and there are no insurance companies -- the state pays for everything.

I'm not sure what the Obama administration will and won't do -- I hope that we end up with a civil society where people who are ill can get treatment without red tape -- treatment as defined by a doctor who is actually seeing the patient.

But, nothing in the United States is ever that simple. :-)

In the meantime -- the CT scan was done -- i'll let bureaucrats fight this one out

No, we don't have the perfect plan at all yet.... Where i live in Ohio we do have state run clinics, have for years, where i can get my teeth cleaned for 4.00, meds. 1.00. We have an excellant metro bus system . That, is where my tax money has went. Of course 15 minutes away is Kentucky their payroll taxing is way higher and their bus system sucks. They have a clinic, a few, but a low income person stll pays 80.00 to see a Dr. , so of course no one goes. I had to move there to get sober. I was there 6 years until i could get out. I am very proud of my State and i know my tax dollars are going for the people here, for our health and safety.

We are just beginning a new Health Care in this country. YEAH! It will be for the better. There are going to be mucho kinks for quite a while. But, it is a beginning and it HAD to be started somehow. Thank goodness Obama kept pushing against all the backlash he was getting. I think he has done alot given everything that has been thrown at him this year. This country has alot of serious problems. At least we are looking directly at them. I know where Obama's heart and head are. Things do not happen over night. We are taking on a huge, new thing in this country. It will be for the better. BUT, it WILL take time to perfect, LOTS of time. But we are headed in the right direction. A way better direction we were in just 1 year ago!!! Is Obama perfect, Hell no, but he is giving his all and is not denying or sugar coating anything. He looks at a problem straight on. He doesn't look around it as we have done in America for years.. . Thank Goodness he is using good common sense. Is he the best, no, but he is getting quite a bit straightened out and holding people accountable.

Sounds to me like you were getting all the tests done while still employed. Shouldn't the insurance then be obligated to pay? But then,I don't know much about the American health system.
You're sober and that is the most important thing. Some days that has to be enough to make it a "successful" one.

Hey Just....I like the way you liken yourself to a volcano...with the lava and all. Yep a day from hell by the sounds of it. As you say, great to hear you living through it sober and doing the things you need to be doing.

I had something happen this week and it will cost alot of money.....I tried to think 'ok, what does HP want me to do here...what is the message I am being sent'. It is a toughie and I am still praying on it.

I am truly sorry for the domino affect that is going on in your life, and it never seems to fail when we are sober we see it much more than when we are using. Believe it or not, you will get thru it one day at a time.

After a few meetings and sober talk with fellow AA's I'm at the point where I can see this is just one of those things ... life isn't a waltz through the lilies (not even on Easter) and what are my alternatives? Get drunk? Stay resentful?

Today I am feeling grateful for the tools I've been given so freely.
