Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

It’s not the liquid it’s the fear, regret, and remorse that I didn’t know how to cope. I learned these skills and today understand my body reacts differently to alcohol. I choose to not start today.
My recipe is practicing self care. Walking, exercise, whole food plant based diet, plenty of water and developing the skills to be compassionately curious about what is going on inside to make me feel the way I feel and behave the way I do.
I was ‘given’ the opportunity to step back and be intimately alone with myself for months to heal physical trauma and, more, to start to heal the emotional pain that is the root of all unhealthy behavior.
What came first? the chicken or the egg….. was my new intention to take care of myself begun with with each sober day or is each sober day begun with a shift in perception that I’m allowed to take care of myself.
For me, and everyone who wants to be whole, sobriety needs to be all encompassing. Treating symptoms of our deep hurts (wether we’re aware of them or not) is just the jumping off point. The drinking is a symptom and the cure is to love myself.
Basically, I wanted a better life for myself and could see how the future was going to play out if I continued drinking and I was scared as it wasn't going to end well.
I stay sober by regularly checking in here and doing volunteer work at an animal sanctuary.
I have learnt to enjoy life without substances & have replaced the bad things, with the best things
I think the #1 thing that keeps me going is that I can find no excuse to drink. I don't want to escape in a way that causes me to be unable to function.
Yesterday, I walked 16 dogs at the animal sanctuary, I came home tired, happy and content.
