Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I am perched in my back yard, my mind spinning about my brother who is dying from alcohol abuse. He's been told that he needs 6 months without alcohol to see what he can regenerate. He needs a new liver and dialysis. He's turned yellow and being given Lactose to pull off ammonia while they tap his belly to pull off 8 liters of fluid at a time.
You want the anti-glam of drinking? This is it. This is it's ugly truth that the seduction leads to.
I'm so scared for him. I can't stop thinking he's so young, his 40s, and that his life is over. I can't take it. We've watched him commit this suicide. It's like he's already taken the poison and there is nothing left but goodbye.
I have the tremendous guilt as his enabler. I loved to drink with him. We were both lunatics while drunk so it was always memorable. He thinks he can karoake. He cannot. He's very good at quick, witty tales. There's always something I've never heard before. He loves parks and spontaneous road trips to Lake Michigan. His life should have been more. He deserved more than this sad, tragic, ugly ending

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

I am well aware of the devastation alcoholism has on families. It took my mother away from me when I was just a kid and the guilt I held on to for the next 30 years negatively affected every decision I made in my life, and culminated in a severe addiction to drugs and alcohol which forced me into treatment. If I hadn't gone through a treatment program, I probably wouldn't be writing this now.
You can clearly see what the disease of alcoholism is doing to your brother, but LOOK at what his drinking is doing to YOU. You need alot of support for yourself and alanon is a great place to find that support.

We will keep you and your family in our thoughts and prayers.

There's a saying in India concerning the desire needed to find enlightenment (freedom). You have to want it more than a drowning man wants air... This really stuck in me. That's how bad we as alcoholics need to want to be sober.
I'm sorry you're hurting just don't add guilt on top. It's not your fault. If it wasn't you drinking with him it would have been someone else.
