Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

Hi friends, just an update to share with our community that I eclipsed two years sobriety yesterday. So much has happened in my life over the last 24 months, but perhaps the most important thing to note, especially for newcomers coming to sobriety, was that healing the root causes of my alcholism was as important as the stopping itself. In essence, drinking was just a symptom of my illness. As an infant, I was abandoned by my parents and lived in five different foster homes before being adopted at two-years old by a couple who were poorly equipped to raise me. Mistrust, control, and anger seemed to always drive my decision making and no wonder I sought solace in drugs and alcohol. So the last two years of my life have been as much about working my recovery program as breaking ties with alcohol. Embracing one, letting go of the other. So happy to be sober today, working my recovery and a part of this community!

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

I think because so many get to a year, and alcohol still tries to convince people they can drink without a problem.
2 years for me, signified a real sign of new life.
Congrats my friend. I look forward to your 3 year post if not sooner.
God Bless
