Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Very Happy for that!!

At first I was really against calling it a disease, but a disease of the mind I can grasp and understand! There is so little known of the true orgins of the brain and its functionings, as far as behavior and so forth...that it makes a lot of sense to me! I mean that was were my MAIN problem was, my thinking!!!
I love this and it really helps to heard...too often we heard about those who let their guards down and in no time at all they are drinking, thinking they can handle it this time!! Ive been there and now I still have a lot of fear about what my thinking alone can get me into!!
I know now that I have to play out the whole senerio of my first drink, BEFORE I take it!! This disease is so powerful and tricky....due to the way we think!!
Thank you for sharing okiyoe :)
I had to rely on my sponsor, others in the fellowship plus outside help to help me sort through the bats in my belfry. The BB and 12+12 told me the truth about me. Otherwise, I wouldn't have followed the 12 "suggestions".
In the beginning, I thought I sobered up just to find out I was certifiably crazy!
Being aware of the mental component (thank you AA) has given me a better solution than just "cutting back" for a few days.
But now that I'm making progress and (slowly) rebuilding my work life, social life, relationship, personal interests...I'm starting to have a lot of "skin in the game" when it comes to contemplating the consequences of the first drink. I'm just trying to stay mindful of how much I value what I'm building and how counter-productive drinking is for me.
Good to know we're not alone, eh?
