Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Wow. It is an incredible feeling to help others and see others change right before your eyes! It's been witnessed here, and in real life, and what a joy it is to see. I'm sure those who helped me feel the same way when they witness the changes in me. It's awesome!
Self-seeking does slip away and we do take interest in our fellows.
Rick, I had two friends get sober because of my new way of living. I was a power of example. They wanted to live life without alcohol, asked me for help, and I told them how I was doing it.
They both went to AA for a few years, chose not to go the AA route, but are still sober today, one for 26 years and the other for 20 years!! I do have to say, though, that they both have their own support systems that they use and live happy, purposeful lives.
AA happens to be the way I choose to stay sober because it's the only thing that works for me. And I love it.

I've gone the gamut though, with lots of Book knowledge ..all kinds of topics , therapy and investigation,,,All good:) ,but sobriety helped to free up my Brain Ha!!! So i could assimilate the info. and yes !! a h/p was a key ingredient.

I love the way that A.A. works through paradox & paradigm. The steps mean such a different thing to you after you work and live them as opposed to just reading them in chapter 5 of the BB, or off the wall in a meeting room.
It's also such a cool thing to begin to understand the paradoxes of the program, such as, "We give it away to keep it." and, "We surrender to win."
When we get bogged down with depression, pity-pot, racing thoughts, ideas of taking a drink, irritable, restless, & discontented, it is a good idea to get out of that dangerous neighborhood in the diseased part of our mind and to work with another alcoholic. It works very well in bringing us back to sane thinking and choice of behavior in this process of recovery.
It may not seem as if the suggestions, slogans, or paradoxes will work to produce what is promised they will produce. However; with actual practice of these suggestions, principles will appear during the process of experiencing the actions, and we are changed & healed.
I heard it said once that, "a paradox is just a truth, standing upside down on it's head trying to get your attention."
It is an experience we should not miss.
In Love, Light, Truth, & Service,
'Stubborn T'
