Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
I've not had outpatient and my only "inpatient" was for about 10 days in detox. But it was very structured. Had to wake at a certain time, then groups, meetings, meals, more groups, more meetings etc. But I liked the structure & discipline and I learned a LOT. The groups & meetings were always different, it wasn't like a bunch of AA meetings, AA meetings were held about twice a week I think.
I would say the best advice is to just follow direction and listen. Just do it!
Happy for you love-we'll be here to help in any way we can! :)
Love ya!
Shelly
Wish you well.
Peace.
HOWEVER, you stated that if you drink before next Friday (the 19th or the 26th?) "they will only accept me for inpatient rehab." Good.
Inpatient treatment can do one thing that IOP can't - that is hold you in a space where you can not drink for a solid period of time. This helps tremendously in making a good start in recovery. The specific gain is a more solid base.
I've only done outpatient as a follow up to in patient. I was sober 10 years after. I relapsed I believe because I didn't continue with some form of program. You seem to have that part nailed down. I'd actually like to see you go in-patient, but I know that is not always feasible. I think you got it this time, I really do. When does rehab start?
I am so excited for you! YEAH!
If I was in charge of you though, and I'm not, lol, I would bet in-house treatment is where you need to be, and eventually might be. Maybe you are not ready. That is ok, one day at a time! Sometimes knowing when to say "uncle" or wave the white flag is half the battle sweet Anna.
Your pics on Facebook are sooooo cute!!! No wonder very few people knew how bad it was/is for you. Your face doesn't show it at all. I shows me that you can rebound quickly...so keep rebounding and hope you feel awesome soon!
