Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
My sister who RARELY drinks at all, had some sweet tea infused with vodka on Thanksgiving that she and her friend were drinking. YUK!!!
I was telling my brother about it and he said "Why the hell would you wanna ruin the sweet tea with that crap?" and I laughed and said "I was thinking, why the hell would you wanna ruin the vodka with tea?" :)
I certainly woulnd't buy a bottle and keep it in the house to test myself to keep it unopened, but I think I'm okay being in it's presence.... :)
so i don't know if that has made it more difficult or not
Ive always believed I'm never more than 5 Min's away from alcohol even if it wasn't in the house so hopefully it wont effect my recovery
"And we have ceased fighting anything or anyone-even alcohol. For by this time sanity will have returned. We will seldom be interested in liquor. If tempted, we recoil from it as from a hot flame. We react sanely and normally, and we will find that this has happened automatically. We will see that our attitude toward liquor has been given us without any thought or effort on our part. It just comes! That is the miracle of it. We are not fighting it, neither are we avoiding temptation. We feel as though we had been placed in a position of neutrality-safe and protected. We have not even sworn off. Instead, the problem has been removed. It does not exist for us. We are neither cocky nor are we afraid. That is our (my) experience. This is how we react so long as we keep in fit spiritual condition."
The book says my experience with this question, the best.
However, I don't think you'll catch me out at a bar or club anytime soon. I still carry a healthy fear of my wayward thoughts and this cunning, baffling and powerful disease.
I go with people from AA and people who are not alcoholics so drink.
Not once in that time has it ever crossed my mind to have a drink or have I ever looked at people drinking and had any reaction to it.
The obsession to drink has been removed for me and as phil608 posted I do not have to fight alcohol. I am free.
I can go anywhere I like as long as I am in fit spiritual condition.
I am always around alcohol and drugs. Mind altering chemicals are just not an option. I suppose my obsession has been lifted to, for over a year now, bet. Lates mates
I can go where I please and never be afraid of drinking, this is not arrogance or stupidity -it's freedom!
