Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
"Sure wish Dad would quit drinking"
They knew a lot more than I assumed.
They could have been standing over my grave thinking
"Sure wish Dad would have quit drinking"
Part of the motivation get sober was them. Once I got started, the motivation was me. Please don't let alcohol win. Tis a painful and lonely way to live - and die...
Hugs,
Dennis
Focus on 24 hrs at a time maybe hour by hour.
Just put down the bottle down your kids need you sober I know I needed my dad when he was drinking all I wanted was for him to just stop.
All the best
Things started to change for me when I finally realised that the believing I could stop at anytime was complete bullsh*t. The whole I won't drink tomorrow type thoughts were lies that I believed because the alternative of accepting that I didn't have control over my drinking was too scary to think about.
I honestly believed that stuff for years. I believe I would have passed a lie detector test. I honestly believed I could stop. The day the thought crossed my mind that I couldn't was a huge moment of clarity for me. Terrifying but the start of change.
