Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Does it really matter what anyone else thinks -- not for me. I knew alcohol was causing major problems in my life and made the best decision of my life - to never touch another drop of alcohol as long as I live.
If AA helps you to make that same decision - more power to you!
I went mainly to meet some sober people, and that went very well. I tried a couple smaller groups and I liked that much better.
Sorry, I still haven't committed to getting a sponsor or working the steps - just getting my feet wet, so to speak.
Coming up on 18 months of freedom from alcohol - I may not have done it YOUR way, but my way is working pretty well for me.
Whatever works, I say!

Nudges from judges - never heard that one b4!
Apologies Billy for hijacking your thread.
I think people are more educated these days because of the internet--especially the younger folks. This sort of "instant education" just wasn't available in 1930's, when AA got its start.
Relapse is always a potential risk for anyone with a long "dry time." If you have not developed a support mechanism, your risk of relapse goes up. If you isolate, your risks REALLY go up.
AA is not for everyone, but it works for me. In any event, I still feel that people need people and should have (human) support in times of upheaval.
Wayne-
Its good to remind folks they dont have to get to those terible extremes to find great benefit from attending AA
I am trying to be carefull how i phrase this as i dont want to ignite a potential debate that i have seen before. Ok i know some folks get help from imidiately getting on the steps and a sponsor straight away however if you want to attend meetings and listen to some shares "enjoy sober company" then of course you will be very welcome. Jan you dont have to apolagise for just attending and seeing how you feel Some folks take a lifetime to do the steps some never finish them some do them once a year, theres no stipulation If it helps then see how it goes
I so hope i havent incited an arguement
