Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Hi this is my first post in here I am 22 and a little over 8 months sober. I have known alcohol has been a problem since before I was 18 however. But I couldn't accept it. I wanted to be normal. It led me near death over and over until I finally surrendered and went back to aa. AA works for me. I work steps with a sponsor and indulge in all of the literature however I am currently sick and awaiting surgery and not able to make many meetings so I thought I would join this group so I could still connect and know I am not alone. Also I am here to talk to anyone. You are not alone. I just need to remember with my disease of alcoholism and anything I am facing I need to take it one day at a time, one moment at a time. God bless.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on being eight months sober. It is good to see young people getting a grip on the alcohol problem and thereby avoiding years of pain and misery for themselves and those around them.
Since you are working the steps with a sponsor and currently not in a position to get to meetings, you could use this opportunity in order to view some excellent videos at the link below.

I'd also suggest listening to so much of the content you can find online. For example, I've recently come across Alcohol Mastery (not, this is not a commercial!!)
God Bless!
First of all, welcome to our forum! Second of all, congratulation for being sober for 8 months! That is a huge accomplishment. We celebrate with you today of your hard work and persistent commitment!
Last but not least, thank you for your encouragement and being a great role model. It’s always encouraging to hear testimonies like you've shared. Yes, I think the hardest thing especially in Alcoholic or any kind of addictive behavior is the lie of believing, “I am alone. I cannot share this with anyone” Once we have the courage to step out and seek for help, I believe anything is possible!
Yes, take one day at a time my friend. God’s richest blessing upon your life as well!
