Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
I find most things coming out of my mouth and others to be half truths even if we try not to. I think we are all walking in a dream of bs.........
It was painful, and gave me a massive reality check, but the relief and peace it brought was amazing, I never wanted to feel like I was in a self imposed prison ever again, nor place my burden of lies and distrust on others. It wasn't all about me.
Sure it takes work, we are only human, and it was easier to lie then put in the effort to speak honestly, not just to others, but to myself, and today to God. I ask for his protection and care as I learn and grow.
To be dishonest would destroy my faith. Good post Lionel, it's a timely reminder for me today. CM xxx :}
granted there are subcommittees involved......like faith and doubt.
it is all good sober2day......good post
One of the points that really helped me early in my recovery was
.
" Do not be discouraged" Someone said "Life is a big obstacle coarse with me as the main obstacle." and when I was new I had a case of the "poor me's" poor me, poor me ,poor me another drink.
Inonuthing talked about self that was me self will run riot.
i would whip myself daily (no not the kinky version you people.)
And at meetings I would hear and see people who had come into the program after me talking about the steps and how there life had turned around they seem to have had all this knowledge and I just didn't seem to be going anywhere. But when I read this
." Do not be discouraged. No one among us has been able to maintain anything like perfect adherence to these principles. We are not saints. The point is, that we are willing to grow along spiritual lines. The principles we have set down are guides to progress. We claim spiritual progress rather than spiritual perfection.
I realized I wasn't the only one who had troubles because it said
"No one among us has been able to maintain anything like perfect adherence to these principles"
And when I stopped and looked at what I was like before recovery and very Earlie in recovery to what I was like at the time I could see how far I had come and that was spiritual progress.
I was able to put the whip away and get on with my journey .
Thankfully this is the short version.lol
Thanks again for your reply's.
God Bless...
